Themes

Have you noticed that there seems to be a common theme on most social networks? Whether you are on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or my newest favorite....Periscope, "most" teachers seem to be genuinely serious about collaboration! I have been so inspired that I have started this blog and have begun to use Twitter more often. I recently participated in an #EdTech Twitter chat. It was soo much fun! If you haven't participated in a Twitter chat, I highly recommend it! Just remember to use Tweet Deck to help see all the post from the chat's hashtag.
As much as I like the online collaboration, I think building collaboration is just as important! Each year, I work in my classroom before the official district start date. I enjoy this time for two reasons: 1) I can relax and work at my own pace and 2) I get a chance to talk to my colleagues and collaborate about organizational tips and ideas for the upcoming year. I leave each day feeling inspired and accomplished!
So as you begin this school year, find ways to collaborate. Teaching can be a tough career, but you are not alone (key Micheal Jackson music here).

This is my Dr. Seuss themed bulletin board.

Although this bulletin board isn't finished, I can tell that it's going to be great! I sketched out my idea and showed it to our fabulous art teacher. She helped me plan out the background. I also sent a text to my good friend Abby, who is also an art teacher.  She gave me some wonderful ideas on color combinations! Y'all!!! Art teachers totally rock!! If you haven't collaborated with your art teacher, you are missing out!!

Teacher Tips

My summer break has flown by! I like to ease back into the swing of things by working in my room before the official first day. On day 1 and 2 I declutter. I know that this should be done at the end of the year, but I can't think about organization at the end of the school year. On days 2 and 3, I unpack boxes and organize. I also make list of ideas and things that I need to buy. As I opened my supply packages, I placed all of my construction paper in this file sorter. Doesn't this just look pretty and organized?

Hello There! Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm using this blog to share my crafts and technology ideas. I'm currently a wife, mom of 2, and kindergarten teacher in east Missouri. This will be my 12th year teaching! My passion in life is to teach and I believe that teaching is my God-given talent. I feel honored and blessed to have a direct impact on today's youth.
